A new book on Leadership

Lee Iacocca is a 83 year old President of the United States is just another best-selling book published. It is a self-made man, financial ruin is probably best known for saving Chrysler Corporation, but has now created a very impressive list of results minivan which also included the renovation of Ellis Island, which control the creation, organization, joining Lee (a group whose goal is to find a cure for diabetes). He is also a philanthropist, committed to foodhunger.

Mr. Iacocca identified nine characteristics that are important to the leadership in his new book, "Where are all the leaders gone?" These include:

1. Curiosity
2. Creativity
3. Communication
4. Character
5. Courage
6. Conviction
7. Charisma
8. Competence
9. Common sense

Not every leader has all nine traits. In fact, some people are stronger in some areas than others and therefore more suitable for someOther things. It 's probably more important, for example for a leader who is against the war, courage and charisma, while politicians have generally benefited from Charisma /

Mr. Iacocca also found that the situation is critical for leaders to crisis. It 'easy to talk about things he would do if there is a problem and another thing to do when the blows of the crisis. We probably all remember the powerful role that Mayor Rudy Giuliani during and after the Sept. 11 playedterrorist attack in New York a few years ago. His leadership not only helped to calm the people, but also brought the organizational chaos.

Many people claim to be "followers" rather than "leader", but I think everyone is a leader in some way. Each of us has some of the features that Mr. Iacocca was found and we use them in many ways in our lives. Leadership is influence on others, and we all do. It may be in our work, families and communities. We do not need to be classified as a market leader on top of a large organization or movement. In fact, most small business are considered a form of leadership. Think of the quiet teenager, whose unusual choice of clothing starts a trend, or the neighbor who is the lawn in a pattern that cuts later in the block popular.

Whether we realize it or not, we are all responsible in any way. Although not intentionally step into a leadership role, will be observed, admiredand copied by others.

Which of the nine traits that you have identified as strengths Iacocca? What we want to develop? What would you use during a crisis?

It 's easy to think of something.
